About the Event

Come play with us! Check out why we love the Wellington Rooms in Halifax so much

19:30 doors open 20:00 taster class with Gosia (LA style) 20:30-midnight Dance Dance Dance!

£8 on doors. Cash or card

No frills, no big names, no fancy guest teachers. This event is here to connect and celebrate our fantastic dancing community.

We start with a taster class, short and sweet, improver level to get you going. Music is prepared in advance and is 90% salsa - any style and era of salsa, as varied as possible, with slower tracks at first to give beginners chance to practice and leaving difficult (but fabulous) ones for the end of the evening. Under duress I will throw some bachatas and (without duress  ) kizombas in. I do accommodate requests where possible, but you must get them in a couple days before event.

The dancefloor is an absolute spinning bliss!

Seasoned dancers - come around, have fun and inspire newbies. Newbies - come around and have a go practicing what you've learnt in a safe environment. Get your mambo-miles in

First time learning to partner dance? Here's a few tips 1 Wear securely fitted shoes - ones that won't slip off, or flap about. Check if you are able to comfortably stand on tiptoes in them. Avoid shoes with a good grip, you want to be able to do a little twist without much friction. 2 Leave your jewellery at home, watches can tangle in partners hair, earrings can get caught on partners sleeve etc 3 Wear whatever clothes you fancy, as long as you're comfortable. Some like to dress up for the party, some like to keep it easy. It is really up to you. 4 Don't stress. Salsa is a joyous social party dance. And the community is very welcoming. 5. If you want people to show you some steps, ask for "I brought watermelons" wristband. Please do not ask anyone with a red wristband to dance.

The venue is run by volunteers. Please support the bar to keep this wonderful place going. Pricing is very acceptable.

We have 3 wristbands Stripes - Here to dance. Red - Please do not ask to dance. Injured, under age, or just socialising. Blue - Absolute beginner who is happy to be shown basic moves. (Please do not presume to teach any other colour, even if you think you are helping, Geeks will grass on you LOL)

The venue is located 5 minutes walk from the train station. Carpark in front of the venue. If you are driving, put the venue name in your satnav rather than postcode.
