About the Event

Do I have a treat for you!!

2 for the price of 1

Salsa room upstairs, Tango room downstairs. Extra long opening hours. Amazing floor, cheap and cheerful bar, and pocket friendly entry price!

We are ganging up with the Huddersfield Tango Loft. You can now get all elegant and sophisticated downstairs or come on up to be jolly as per usual. It was a fantastic mix last December and we are very excited to do this again.

£8 on doors, cash or card

Doors open 7:30 Warmup and short taster salsa class with Gosia at 8. Then music plays till 1am.

Music policy upstairs - any style and era of salsa with slower tracks at first and leaving difficult (but fabulous) ones for the end of the evening. I will avoid Cuban salsa as there is a Cuban salsa party happening in Huddersfield and I wouldn't want to take away from their crowd. There will be some kizomba and under duress I will throw a couple bachatas in. Playlist is prepared in advance as always on the salsa get-togethers. I am happy to send link to anyone with anxiety to let them get to know the tracks.

Music policy downstairs - Mix of alternative and nuevo tango. DJ Panda.

Seasoned dancers - come around, have fun and inspire newbies. Newbies - come around and have a go practicing what you've learnt in a safe environment. Get your mambo-miles in. Have a sneaky peak at other style too.

WRISTBANDS: We have 3 types. As a default you will be given the general stripy wristband. But you can ask for red or blue. Red - for anyone who doesn't want to be asked to dance, if you have an injury that only your friends are safe to handle, or if you are under age, that is a colour for you. Blue - I very much discourage teaching anyone how to dance during a party, and will stop unsolicited lessons. However if you actually want people to show you what to do, and avoid me rescuing you, then ask for blue. An L plate of sorts.

New to partner dance? Here's a few tips 1 Wear securely fitted shoes - ones that won't slip off, or flap about. Check if you are able to comfortably stand on tiptoes in them. Avoid shoes with a good grip, you want to be able to do a little twist without much friction. 2 Leave your jewellery at home, watches can tangle in partners hair, earrings can get caught on partners sleeve etc. Gentlemen, pretty please, no sleeve cuffs, they catch on ladies hair. 3 Wear whatever clothes you fancy, as long as you're comfortable 4 Don't stress. Salsa is a joyous social party dance. And the community is very welcoming. 5. If you want people to show you some steps, ask for "I brought watermelons" wristband.

COVID SAFETY: 1. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell 2. It is your choice if you wish to wear a mask and if you want to switch partners or stay in bubble. If you choose to remain in bubble, you will be given a red wristband to avoid strangers approaching you. 3. Please use hand sanitizers available on site

The venue is located 5 minutes walk from the train station. Last train to Leeds is at 23.38, Bradford 22.55 Carpark free in front of the venue, or paid at the back of the venue. There is direct accerss to the carpark at the back from the Tango room, perfect for lone ladies, but you can only get out that way, you still need to come in through front door. If you are driving, put the venue name in your satnav rather than postcode.
